Art and Architecture on Campus

I figured I should show you guys what campus looks like, since I will be walking around on it every day for the next 4.5 months. Walking around you see a lot of art. Some are advertisements for a school magazine (Sax, whose theme this year is “Sax Appeal: Sax Sells”) and some that I think has been there since the apartheid days (see the picture with the rainbow that’s entitled “HIM”).

UCT has a long history, and students played a big part in protests against the apartheid. Today, UCT is 50% black and 50% white. Race is still a huge issue here, and some people still are not sure whether they are to be classified as black, coloured, or white.
